We had the pleasure of touring France and Italy last year. Since then, a lot of people asked me where and what they need to eat and where to visit. One of the highlights for me was while we waited for my husband to join us at Charles de Gaulle Airport. We sat at Paul’s and ordered their hot chocolate. It was by far the best hot chocolate that I have ever had. Ever since we got back I tried different recipes to recreate that hot chocolate. After a lot of practice this recipe was the nearest I got to the best hot chocolate I ever had. I think the Parisians are the luckiest people that can enjoy Paul’s hot chocolate every day.
1 ½ cup milk
½ cup sugar
¾ cup cacao
½ teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla
½ cup cream
Heat the sugar, milk, cinnamon and vanilla together. Add the cacao whisk while on a low heat. Let it simmer until it thickens. Add the cream. Serve immediately.
Enjoy and please let me know if you agree that this is the closest to Paul’s hot chocolate that you will ever have.
