Spring. It brings new life, freshness and beauty which was exactly what inspired us to photograph a new blossom design for our Samesyn linen range. We loved the design on the linen so much and knew it deserved to be paired with more collaborations in a styled shoot.
We loved the moody contrast between the blooming blossoms and dark branches and decided to do the shoot in a white blossom orchard. Touches of light pink was bought in for some colour but the main focus was to play with light against dark.
The Samesyn team, Elmarie Berry (recipe developer) and Lindy Kriek (photographer) teamed up with paper artist Plank Kreatief and rubber jewelry designer Roche van den Berg of Roche.Recycle.Relove who upcycles rubber waste into pieces of wearable art and functional jewelry to dream up a beautiful shoot to celebrate the beauty and magic of Springtime.
Hermien of Plank Kreatief said: “I find working with paper extremely calming and meditative. My art is a series of simple explorations, precision and attention to detail, inspired by nature. Part of the process happens in my head, but mostly I am guided by the paper, creating an abstract and simplified piece of art”.
Samesyn’s very own Elmarie Berry, made the most decadent and moist Almond, Coffee and Thyme Cake with Oh Mega’s organic Almond Flour. Her Vanilla Bean & Milk Chocolate Ganache Macaroons have just the right crunch on the outside, with a soft, gooey centre, which makes this treat the perfect accompaniment for a beautiful spring day.
Paired with these delicacies is Spier’s Chardonnay / Pinot Noir Wine. A gorgeous pink color, with flavors of strawberries and crisp yellow apples, this wine will transport you to a field of trees filled with blossoms. Spier Wine Estate prides itself on their ethical and organic farming practices and healthy soil which makes their wines even more sought after.
